And all of a sudden, from right out of nowhere, this project turned into an entry for Strawberry Jam 7.
I was hoping to get this game out by Valentine's Day, although I was also concurrently working on an entry for Black & White Jam #11 - I guess I really like giving myself a ton of homework... ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Randomly happening across Strawberry Jam blessed this project with a much nicer deadline... ๐๐
A heads-up for the jam runners/ judges: "i started early" - that is, being as the project is a spin-off of my entries for January's Lewd Jam #1, a lot of the assets were already in place, plus I was already creating new assets by late January.
As for the getting-game-stuff-to-actually-work aspect, that's absolutely a February thing.

Hello, I am working on a new part of the soon to be Dicky quadrilogy and i was wondering if it is okรฉ to but your character (Morag) as a part of a sub queste?
Hi there, wasn't expecting a question like this ๐ค Glad you like the character design ๐
I'm going to say yes; just be sure to include a credit within the game, plus a link to my itch page on Dicky 4's page when it's done - something like "Featuring Morag created by Grave Reaper Cushions".
I'm looking at your other games at the moment; do you know how to get GB Studio games running in browser? It'll help make them more visible in search results, and they can run on mobile devices too. Worth looking into ๐
(Also, just a little thing, but with .gb files being as tiny as they are, I personally wouldn't bother zipping them before uploading them)
(Update: okay, just seen why your games are in .rar files... I've never actually used BGB before, no idea why tho - I've only heard good things about it ๐ค)
Alright, i will do these things and say thank you in advance. It is a verry small subquest tought, you collect a few 'mysterius items' and get a firm hand shake and a small states boost.
The overworld sprite.
That's neat ๐
It's in the Dicky's art style yet you can still tell it's Morag ๐
This was fun even if it was really stupid. Really like all of the sprite work.
The more animated sprites don't really display right and there's no indication that I actually hit things but it was for a jam so I assume you'll clean that sort of thing up if you ever circle back to it.
Can confirm I was confused by the sudden switch to a platformer map, but still being a twin stick and flying around a forest. So much so that I went and played the prequel in the middle of playing this.
"This was fun even if it was really stupid" - that's a box quote if I ever saw one...! ๐
I spotted the thing with the more animated sprites early on while working on the first game - it happens in both the web build and within GB Studio's own in-built emulator (which I'm assuming is the same thing ๐ค). When running the rom in an external emulator everything looks as intended ๐
Hitting things... ๐ค There's audio feedback, but no visual feedback, partly on account of reusing the previous game's enemy sprites which went down in one hit (so no pain states required), but also, yeah, jam conditions ๐ Moving forward, I'm looking to find a sweet spot between well-populated scenes and sprites with the "right" amount of animation
Very fun concept, I love the pixel art! Although I got stuck on a boss battle and wasn't able to defeat it. Maybe it's just a skill issue on my end XD
Glad you liked it! ๐
For such a bulky thing, that boss is pretty nimble... ๐
