New download: ProtoMorag2022!

So following some recent computer issues, I've had to migrate the old projects to a new system, and in turn found myself revisiting some of my earliest GB Studio projects, including this curio right here.

A little history lesson: I've been using Aseprite since around 2017 (I think...?), starting out by experimenting with creating characters and sprite sheets for games that weren't about to exist any time soon, at least at that point. Some of these tests were for NSFW characters, which after several iterations resulted in the version of Morag we see in the main game right here.

That version wasn't the first version to end up in a GB Studio project, however.

Back in 2022, and still trying to get the feel for GB Studio, I put this little test together. It was an experiment in creating larger sprites (or at least larger than what I'd been using up until that point) as well as getting the hang of the new Sprite Editor. The actual sprite sheet is absurdly crude, consisting only of a lower body, being a set of legs as one component, an upper body consisting of the torso, arms and head, and each boob as a component each. Hilariously, the walk cycle only involves overlapping the legs every other frame, while the boobs bounce around independently of each other.

As for the "game" itself, it's a bare, single screen in which "Proto Morag" (then unnamed) can move left and right and jump... and that's it.

I came away from that experiment thinking "Well it works... kind of. Now that it exists, maybe I'll do something with it one day..."

That one day of course rolling 'round in January of 2023... 👍

"ProtoMorag2022pack.zip" contains the Game Boy rom, the Analog Pocket rom and the Windows-compatible SameBoy pack, easily launched from the .bat file. Enjoy!
